Monad Gardens is a landscape maintenance project based in Oakland, California.
Our work began in the neighborhood where founder Matthias Loeks both lives and works—and where the vision for Monad Gardens first took shape.

From the start, Matthias felt incredibly fortunate to care for the gardens of his neighbors. That sense of trust, familiarity, and shared space has guided the business ever since. This is not a faceless service—we’re part of the neighborhood. We walk the same streets, watch the same seasons change, and believe that gardening is more impactful when understood as a shared endeavor of all the beings that interact with our little spot on the Earth.

At Monad Gardens, we see each garden as its own small world—and as part of something larger. The health of a single plant ripples outward, affecting soil, pollinators, shade, water flow, and human wellbeing. We believe in working with this web, not against it. That’s why our approach centers on care that’s not only sustainable, but regenerative: water-wise practices, habitat awareness, soil health, and an eye toward the long view.

Every garden we tend is both its own unique space and a reflection of the larger ecosystem we all share.
